As a featured home in the House Beautiful (May 1982) article "The House in Your Future: A Condominium that Looks Like a Home," this condominium has one of a kind characteristics that you will find in no other condo in the area. Using the original structure as a frame, the interior was finished extensively with reclaimed wood taken from the original farm house which sat in the current garden.

Our family has enjoyed living and hosting parties in this unique house for the last four years and are only leaving to move onto a new job.

Interior:

The layout of the house consists of the main level where the kitchen, dining, living and 1/2 bath are located. A basement is located below the main level which contains the garage and a media room. The second level contains the master bedroom, bathroom and an additional bedroom (originally used as an office but then converted to a baby room). A loft overlooks the master bedroom (currently used as an office).

With the unique architecture of the barn, a family can furnish it with either a modern or more traditional decor and looks great either way.

The basement floor is covered in Berber carpet while the main level is the original pine flooring. The upper two levels have Australian Cypress.

Exterior:

A unique feature of this condominium is that not only are you getting a new home but you are getting a large lot with many features of an estate that all the residents enjoy using. The barn is located in the heart of the Village Green residential area giving you a feeling of community rather than cookie cutter apartments like the rest of the condos in Iowa City.

Maintenance of the grounds is done by a professional firm. They take care of everything from trimming trees, spring cleanup, fertilization, mowing to snow removal in the wintertime.
