Resolved Question: i need help starting a poetry/writing group for youth?
i have only had the chance to ask one question on here, and enjoyed the responses i got. which is why i need a little guidance into starting something new...
kinda long, please read if interested in helping.
real quick: all my life i have struggled and havent really ever been able to talk about whats really going on inside. it wasnt until about 7th grade that my english teacher gave me my first journal as an assignment in class...daily we had to write a free write or response to whatever was on the board. im sure some know ... real quick: all my life i have struggled and havent really ever been able to talk about whats really going on inside. it wasnt until about 7th grade that my english teacher gave me my first journal as an assignment in class...daily we had to write a free write or response to whatever was on the board. im sure some know what i am talking about. anyways, when ever we had free writes, i found myself taking it into a direction that helped me then on. i would use this 5-10min time just spilling about anything and everything that i have been thru, to what was going on that day. sometimes poetry and sometimes just good ol' jotting it all down!!
well high school came, and i luckily had the chance to have an awsome teacher for 2 years out of my four. she always encouraged me to write. we even started to hang out after school so she could help me work on poems to enter into the school literature(SP?) magazine. it was thru her encouraging words and dedication to helping me reach my goals thru writting. i even went as far as trying to start my own book(which i am still working on!)
**as corny as this is going to sound...i watched a while back the movie freedom writers...i love this movie. well i was instantly excited when her class really got into the idea of sharing thru writting what was going on in their lives.
- so really this is where my question begins...
i work thru the YMCA in the bay area, and i recently noticed that they dont offer any "class" or group that goes along with, well...writting. and i wanna start that. if the potential class/group is thru the "Y" that would be great, but i have a feeling, they wont go for that. how would i approach an idea such as that to them? and who would i have to talk to...also, even if it couldnt be thru them, where could i get a group started?
honestly i have never organized something like this before, really only in high school, with a club, but that was it..
**F.Y.I---
i might add that i am only 18, and dont have any "teacher-like-credtials" what so ever...
so please if you can offer advice. i would greatly appreciate it!
thanks.
oh and one last thing..sorry.
i work near the south bay (more san jose area. in CA)
so if people who do read this know where i can get info about doing this near this area, or even north...palo alto, e.p.a, that would be great!
thanks! Close All
Voting Question: How to stay warm in a hula girl costume?
I am wearing a hula girl outfit with my friend tomorrow, and though we are planning to wear leggings under out skirts, and jackets over our tanktops, with a bikini top over the tanktop, I don't think we will be warm enough. Tomorrow is supposed to be very cold and wet (See weather for Palo Alto, CA; 94303) and... yeah. We don't want our costumes to be ruined, however. We want to hit plenty of houses for candy. Also, how can we stay dry? I would prefer not to carry around an umbrella everywhere. Resolved Question: Is there a difference between Rape and Sexual Assult?
Aren't they both the same thing? Don't they basically mean that you sexually attack someone against their will?
It's because one time, this 20 year-old dude attacked a 17 year-old Asian girl who was parking her bike outside her apartment. He hit her head on the pavement a few times to knock her out. Then he put her in his car and drove out to a secluded area between Palo Alto, CA and Sunnyvale CA and he sexually assaulted her in his car while she was semiconscious. Afterwards, he drove his car somewhere else and while he was gone, the girl escaped and found some guy to take her to the hospital.
They found the criminal and supposedly he did it to prove his girlfriend that he could get another girl if he wanted. Stupid, huh?
Anyways, could you answer my main question?
