Voting Question: Where can i get a kitten/cat on O'ahu (HI)?
I just moved to honolulu and i want to buy or adopt a cat. Does anyone know of a store where they sell them or a adoption facility where they have non feral cats? My husband won't let me get a free one out of the paper because he's afraid it will be sick.
addresses would be helpful. Thank you Resolved Question: What's the best way to experience Japanese culture in Honolulu?
I'm moving to Honolulu in August with the hope of moving to Japan after I finish my MBA in HI. I'll be taking language courses during my 18 month program, but I want to go out and try to experience Japanese culture/practice language skills as much as possible outside of the classroom. Any ideas of good places to go, things to do, etc. where I can meet Japanese people/have cultural experiences? Resolved Question: Did Obama ever talk about the discrimination his Grandmother faced in Hawaii?
"Madelyn and Stanley then moved to Hawaii, where he found a better furniture store opportunity. She started working at the Bank of Hawaii in 1960 and was promoted to be one of the first female bank vice presidents in 1970. In 1970s Honolulu, both women and the minority white population were routinely the target of discrimination. "

So why wasn't he sympathetic towards her, why did he denigrate her like he did?

I am not talking about discrimination in th workplace, I am talking about in general - as the people who have experienced it confirmed.
He only seem to manipulate the one occurence of her being fearful of a panhandler - while not addressing the racial discrimination she faced in Hawaii, why was he so one-sided about it, if the intention was not to manipulate? Close All

Apr 91 - Married Larry D. McKinnerney Jr., FedEx QA Mgr (formerly USMC) in HI
Mar 93 - Moved to TN with minor son
Sep 04 - Divorced in TN (mother named "Primary Residential Parent" of both minor children; TN court acknowledged that mother and children would move to and become residents of HI)
Dec 04 - Mother and both minor children move to HI
Jul 05 - Mother remarries; ex-husband/Father is angry at Mother's remarriage and threatens to take children away to "make her return to him"
After months of threats, ex-husband makes good on threats and flies to HI, kidnaps children while mother is in hospital (for 1 night), and files for "Temporary Emergency Custody"
Dec 05 - Mother flies to TN (she's permanently disabled and financially strapped) to get her children back, but is told by TN court clerk that the judge on the case, Chancellor Martha B. Brasfield says Mother canNOT represent herself and MUST hire and attorney (same judge, same statement during the divorce -- hence the reason Mother gave up all rights to marital assests and bank accounts to ensure her and her children's right to leave abusive marriage), and that the TN court is "closed for the holidays" and will resume "sometime after the new year"
May 07 - Father physically abuses older child (son)
Aug 07 - Mother finally gets both children back. Once more TN court names her "Primary Residential Parent" and acknowledges that she and her children will be residents of HI
Sep 07 - Mother files TRO against ex-husband/Father due to his constant threats against her and her children
Feb 08 - TN court (Chancellor Martha B. Brasfield) names Father as sole custodial parent of ONLY the minor daughter (whom told Mother that Father had demanded that she use the restroom and bathe with the bathroom door open; sleep in his bed in only her underwear and t-shirt; took her for driving lessons while sitting on his lap; bought her gifts for "not making daddy cry"; made her wear clothes that were too tight and too short; and threatened her with physical harm during all of her illnessess)
Apr 08 - Minor daughter runs away while still in Mother's custody in HI. Runaway letter states that she will NOT return to abusive father. Mother files runaway report with HPD (Honolulu Police Department)
May 08 - TN court grants Father sole custody of minor son (17 years old). Son tells Father he will NOT return to TN. TN allows for Father to assume sole custody but the right to send son to TX to live with paternal grandparents. Son tells Father and paternal grandparents he will NOT live with them either due to their failure to assist he and his younger sister when they called them for help when their Father was abusing them.
Jul 08 - Father tells HI court that he will NOT fly to HI to pick up minor son, nor minor daughter when/if she is found or returns to her Mother.
Sep 08 - Mother is arrested and detained (for 4 days) for extradition to TN to face charges of Custodial Interference. Mother demands to see the warrant. No warrant is ever produced. Appearance in HI court has State of HI prosecutor's office asking for Mother's release stating "the cart was put before the horse. There isn't a warrant."
NOW HERE ARE THE QUESTIONS:
Who has jurisdiction?
The children are 17 and 11, both soon to be 18 and 12.
How does a judge who is abusing her power get removed from the bench?
Why do attorneys only want to make money from the case?
When calling attorneys, the reply is: "you don't have enough money to interest me in taking the case..."
What can I do to help the minor daughter (whom has stated she will not come out of hiding until she's assured she will be allowed to live with her Mother and NOT be forced to return to her abusive Father or his neglible parents)? Close All
