Over the course of the last four years silentlambs has been a repository of reports on alleged Jehovah's Witness child molesters. Victims have reported extensively on times, dates and places abuse occurred. We have wrestled with how to alert the public as well as members that may be in congregations where abusers have been reported. We offer the following suggestions if you as a Jehovah's Witness are in a town/congregation where a report has been made. Do not allow your children to be alone with anyone in the congregation. Escort your children to the bathroom during meetings and make sure no else is with them when using facilities. Never allow your children to be alone in the car with anyone while in field service. Do not allow any member to study with your child alone. Avoid camping trips in which children go as a group with one or two adults. Avoid baby sitters that are adult males. At a get together watch your children and keep them in sight at all times. Ask elders directly if they know of any abusers in your congregation, use specific names and note their reaction. They will not tell you directly but indirectly you can often figure out who it is. If one elder is less cooperative talk to another till you find out enough information to know the facts. Check the local sex offender list in your area, type in the name of every person in your congregation to see if any are listed. Notice any male member of the congregation that does not have privileges such as microphone or other duties around the congregation, especially if for a long period of time. They can offer talks on the TMS or sermons Service Meeting but are not allowed to conduct meetings. (This is only in case of a confessed child molester) Note any member of the congregation that has children with sever rebellion or emotional problems. Do not allow your children to have sleepovers with anyone. Note members that the elders avoid having around their children. If you are a member of the public and your community is on the list take the following steps to protect your family. If Jehovah's Witnesses call at your home never allow them in your home If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call at your home purchase a no trespassing sign and place it near your door. JW's are instructing to only respect "no trespassing" signs any other variation will be ignored. If you do not wish Jehovah's Witnesses to call you can also call the local number and ask to be placed on the "do not call" list. They will note your home and check about once a year to make sure you wish to remain on the list. If you choose to study with Jehovah's Witnesses do so at a neutral location such as the local Kingdom Hall or in a public place. Never allow your child to be alone with members or their children. If you choose to attend meetings with Jehovah's Witnesses then we suggest you follow the guidelines above for members. Remember that most members are not aware of who the molesters are in their congregation according to church policy. They do not know. If two Jehovah's Witnesses call at your door one could be a child molester. According to church guidelines all confessed child molesters are required to have a partner when going door to door. If two Jehovah's Witnesses appear at your door you might wish to ask if one or both are child molesters for peace of mind. Of course keep in mind if the person is an accused child molester they are allowed to work alone in the door to door work. Ok so My Husband, Derrick & I are expecting a little girl soon. We have been having trouble agreeing on a name. He likes Kelsey Anne & I'm just not too fond of it.My mom HATES it. I like Hadleigh Elizabeth, Derrick is not fond of that. The only name that we can agree on is what we orginally were going to name our son, Nolan had he been a girl & that is Fallon. She keeps calling me her "last Hope" to have a Holland in the family is pressuring the HELL out of me to name her Holland. She says if I name it Fallon she will never be able to look @ her w/out thinkning cop killer b/c about 3 months after Nolan was born was when that girl Fallon talent ran over those two cops in Mt. Juliet TN. My dad was a police officer so she views this as a personal insult to him. Now I have liked this name since i was 16 and she wouldn't be named after the Fallon that killed the 2 officers s(sorry this is long) so anyway she would be naed after MY favortite barrel racer Fallon Taylor, much like our son is named after Derrick's favorite baseball player. Soooooo Am I being the selfish one or is my mom? I'm tired of being pressured. she's so irritated at me she won't hardly talk to me at this moment atleast not about the baby. what is your opinion Cornflake... love the idea of combining names but she can't be Fallon Anne... our last name is Gregory........ imagine the horros that child would get in school caus eof initals. lol I do agree with everyone and we are definately not going to bend to her whim I'm just tire dof hearing "Heather you'r emy last hope for a Holland" I guess my question should have been hwo do i make her stop???? ok a quick update I am LOVING ALL answers here. Hadleigh Elizabeth I like b/c of the menaing of Hadleigh (filed of Heather heheheh) and Elizabeth is a family name so i kidn would be keeping a family name in there... sigh decisions decisions lol TO KINGSTON: YOUR ANSWER WAS HIGHLY UNCALLED FOR. I FOUND IT RUDE, DEMEANING AND DEGRADING. I MYSELF WAS HIGHLY OFFENDED. I AM BY NO MEANS HARBORING HATE FOR MY PARENTS OR MY MOM, I'M JUST NOT REALLY HAPPY WITH THE IDEA OF NAMING MY CHILD HOLLAND. IT IS A FAMILY NAME AND BY MAKING THE COMMENT YOU DID ABOUT IT YOU HAVE INSULTED NOT ONLY ME, MY FAMILY BUT ALSO ANYONE ELSE WITH THE FAMILY NAME OF HOLLAND.
