Resolved Question: Driving in New Mexico, Texas and Arizona in winter?
My husband and I are planning to go to New Mexico, Texas and Arizona at the end of December. Ideally, we would like to visit White Sands NM, Big Bend NP, Petrified Forest/Painted desert NP and if the road conditions will permit us to do so - Canyon de Chelly NM. I'm not sure if we need to rent the SUV for this trip or not. Is it reasonable to rent the compact car with better mileage instead of compact SUV? Will we need to use the chains?

SYDNEY (Reuters Life!) - An Australian school which recently banned its students from doing cartwheels, somersaults and other gymnastics during recess is reviewing the decision after parents and students got all bent out of shape.
The school, in the coastal town of Townsville in Queensland state, told students they could not perform any acrobatics such as handstands outside class because they were a safety hazard.

SYDNEY (Reuters Life!) - An Australian school which recently banned its students from doing cartwheels, somersaults and other gymnastics during recess is reviewing the decision after parents and students got all bent out of shape.
The school, in the coastal town of Townsville in Queensland state, told students they could not perform any acrobatics such as handstands outside class because they were a safety hazard.
"The school is actually reviewing this," a spokesman for the Queensland state's education department said Wednesday.
A statement by Education Queensland released Wednesday said the decision had been taken "in the interests of the safety of all students as well as in recognition of the school's physical environment."
But it added: "The school will work with its parents and citizens' committee and the school community to ensure an appropriate balance between student safety and their right to engage in gymnastic activities."
The school had classified gymnastic activities a "medium risk level 2" danger to children when performed in class.
But Australian media said parents shocked by the ban also discovered that other popular sports such as cricket, tennis and soccer also had the same risk classification but were not banned.
Sports are a national obsession in Australia, with levels of participation and spectating much higher than in many other developed countries.

Ok my friend mariah had a birthday party and she invited a guy who lives like 45 minutes away in another city named alex. she met him at church camp and they remained friends. well the party was the first time i met him and he's really cute and we started to talk and i really like him. he gave me a hug because we were playin football and i threw it at his face by accident (we were playing in the dark) so i'm like omg i'm so sorry r u ok? and he gave a fake pouty look and i put my hand on his shoulder and he hugged me. he sat by me on the couch and we talked for a little while while mariah was opening her presents and he messed with me like he was throwing stuff at me and another guy todd had my phone and he goes oo u got a new text message i'm like dont read it! (cuz it was a secret about another friend) and alex is like read it todd! but todd didnt and when i came back and sat back by alex after i got my phone he asked if he could c it and then he looked through my phone and then he started texting my friend pretending to be me til i took it away from him. then we were all going to play a game where you stand in a circle and bend down so you're sitting on the person's knees behind you and you try to stay like that. alex goes miranda do u want me on top of you? and then we started laughing he's like ok that sounded wrong. then he's like or do you wanna be on top of me? and then we laughed and he's like that still sound wrong. then i'm like i like the guy on top and he laughed and said ok and then we played the game and b4 he left he was asking everyone for their phone numbers so he asked me for mine and then i told him to put his in mine so i have his number. On Monday I texted him at like 4 and here was our convo:
Me: hey watz up?
Alex: nothin much how bout u? hav fun at skool lol
Me: nm just getting home from spellbowl. Lol oh ya let me tell ya schools pretty exciting. Oo I did hit someone in the stomach wit a softball wen I hit it… I felt bad. R u bak in school yet?
Alex: sweet so u and elly (she went to church camp too) r like spellbowl teammates? Man that does sound exciting. Ya all I did was play tic tak to cuz English is BORING
Me: haha that’s pretty fun. Way to use ur time wisely geez lol all we do in English is read and take tests I hate it. Yes we r spellbowl teammates n it is exciting so don’t make fun lol
Alex: yea we r supposed to be listening to a book or something and that’s wat we do 2. hey I wasn’t moking u. hey for a spelboler u do spell purty badly lol

"The donations are basically through and through illegal -- that's number one. And number two is how the Obama campaign tried to conceal it," Schlussel chides. "They listed the campaign contributions as coming from Rafah, Georgia. They used the 'GA' from Gaza so it makes it look like it's legal; and then for the zip code it says '972,' which is actually the area code to dial over to Gaza," she contends.
The attorney comments that if the Obama campaign is willing to "accept thousands of dollars beyond the legal limit and they're also going to flout [Federal Election Commission] restrictions...that's very indicative of what kind of president [Obama] is going to be."
"They're not going to be worried about the details and they won't mind if they break the law to get to the final result that they want," adds Schlussel. She believes it is a "major news story when a presidential candidate receives money from 'a bastion of Islamic terrorism.' And Schlussel argues that the media is "bending over backwards to help Barack Obama and cover up any negative news about him."
Schlussel says Pamela Geller will likely file a Federal Election Commission complaint against the Obama campaign for violating restrictions and limits on campaign contributions
