Guilderland is a town in Albany County, New York, United States. The population was 32,688 at the 2000 census. The town is named in Dutch for its worth to the early settlers on its vast amount of sand. The Dutch, knowing sand could be used to create glass, saw Guilderland as a pristine chance for making money, thus dubbing it Guilderland, Dutch for "Moneyland", or the equivalent to "Dollarland". It may have been Gelterland or Gelterlan in the original Dutch.

The Town of Guilderland is on the north border of the county. It is west of Albany, the capital of New York.
