I am driving with two Latina female doctors who have never been in the U.S. before, from Engelwood NJ to Duke University in Durham NC. (This will be mid-October.) We know we will go through Atlantic City and Philly. We can make as many stops and side trips as we like. I want to "WOW" them with All-American experiences, on the way, and upon arrival in NC. I have never taken this trip myself, so I want you to help me plan the trip! Please give me your personal recommendations.

Resolved Question: Is Tennessee cold in November?

I am looking for somewhere to travel for Thanksgiving this year and I thought about Tennessee but I am not sure if it is cold there in November around Thanksgiving time. I know New York is cold and I am pretty sure Atlantic City is cold. I live in Virginia and do not want to travel to NC, GA or FLA. At beaches in Los Angeles, the Pacific is almost too cold to swim in whereas the Atlantic Ocean is a little better. I think California gets a current from Alaska, and FL & NC get a current from the Bahamas. Yeah, and if anybody wants to sneak me Carol's e-mail address go ahead. She's that girl from Madras who leaves snail trails everywhere she goes.

I am looking for a good vacation package to take my 68 year old mom who loves the ocean/beach. Any ideas for good oceanfront or beachfront hotels that aren't rediculously priced? I'm looking in Atlantic City, NJ, SC, NC, FL. I'm pretty open minded, but need to keep it within continental U.S. I've already searched priceline, nexttag, yahoo, travelocity, cheaptickets, cheaphotels, hotels.com, and expedia. . . . I'm just not having a lot of luck. . Any ideas? Places you stayed that you enjoyred?
