OVERVIEW

This home is the coolest most unique home you'll ever see. (More photos to come) However at my age I cannot give it the justice it deserves. The house needs TLC, (i have begun to work on the siding, and will continue until sold)(see photos). The house needs some updating as well, but the house is very habitable as is. In fact I live here daily. This is a Sears Roebuck catalog home. An elegant piece of historical significance. It's 4 to 5 bedrooms two full baths, a full cellar type basement, and the floor plan is something no longer done, or even considered. To build this house today? The costs would be enormous. This house has a room solely dedicated to a grand staircase to the second floor where the master bedroom, and bath are located along with a closet so large it too could be a bedroom as well. In addition there are two other bedrooms on the second floor. The main floor has a spacious kitchen, a formal dining room, (bay windows, and intricate shutters on the inside of the windows). There's a large living room, and a library off of the kitchen which could be yet another large bedroom. A spacious corner lot with a single car brick garage. The basement has two entrances, one indoors, and the other a walkout short stairwell into the backyard. Fenced for pets in a town so peaceful, and crime free you just wouldn't believe it unless you live it. A large grocery store, an Ace Hardware, a truckstop with a Subway within, and Dollar General among other immenities. This home is a large corner double plus lot bordered by two paved roads. Big shopping, (Lowe's, Walmart Super Centers, Harbor Freight, Tractor Supply, Aldi's, etc. The closest Walmart Super Center a mere twenty minutes away the larger town with about everything anyone would need is approximately 45 minutes. This is a farming community where everyone waves to you. The greatest schools I've seen in many years. This town, these people support their school children's teams like you would scarcely believe. This house arrived as a kit on a railcar in 1925. The house was painstakingly assembled by the original owners, some contract help, along with neighbors that gladly lent a working hand. There are several books written about Sears Roebuck homes as well as websites, and a well kept historical registry record. There were over 75,000 Sears Roebuck catalog houses constructed in America from the early 1900s through the world war ll years and into the 1950s. Most of these homes were erected by families working together along with neighbors back when Americans were nearly all "Do it yourselfers". Hence, both this beautiful small town, and this ultra unique home, are a real life fragment of America's storied history. In fact this whole area is a modern day version of Mayberry to be sure.
